Spiced Chai

Filled with fragrant spices, sweetened with brown sugar and steeped with loose leaf tea, this creamy, dreamy chai is a hug in a mug! Pro Tip: You can also package all the dry ingredients in a mug with the recipe for a fun DIY gift.
Ingredients
- 3 cardamom pods, crushed
- 10 black peppercorns
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 6 pieces allspice
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 piece star anise
- ¼ teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 inch of vanilla bean, split
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 ounce fresh ginger, sliced thin
- 3–4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons loose leaf black tea
Preparation
Place all dry spices in a small sauce pot and heat over medium heat for 2–3 minutes until they become aromatic.
Add water, milk, ginger and brown sugar and simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and add the tea.
Let steep for 20 minutes or until desired strength is achieved. Strain and serve.
