Swiss Chard with Apple & Bacon

The combination of earthy chard, crisp apples, and smoky bacon in this supremely versatile dish is sure to put you in the mood for fall.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces bacon, chopped
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 1 Gala apple, diced
- 1 bunch Swiss chard, stems thin-sliced and leaves chopped
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Cracked black pepper, to taste
Preparation
Cook bacon in a frying pan over medium heat for about 8 minutes, until slightly crispy. Remove bacon from pan using a slotted spoon and set aside.
Add onion to the pan with bacon drippings and sauté until translucent, about 6 minutes. Add apples, bacon, chard, and apple cider vinegar to the pan, then cover and cook 3–4 minutes, until tender.
Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
